It’s not about the words, it’s about the emotional intensity that is attached to those words.

Proverbs 3:26 says “for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.”

But what does confidence REALLY mean?

The dictionary describes confident as:

1. having strong belief or full assurance; sure:

2. sure of oneself; having no uncertainty about one’s own abilities, correctness, successfulness, etc.; self-confident; bold:

3. excessively bold; presumptuous.

Let’s look at those a little closer.

Having STRONG BELIEF or FULL ASSURANCE Wow! That means fully knowing, and resting upon, being fully assured in Him.

The second definition is talking about self-confidence, but we know as Paul stated we should have no confidence in our own flesh… but God-Confidence is a whole different ball of wax.

We as Christians need to be sure of God, having check this out… having NO UNCERTAINTY about God’s ability. Now I can definitely be unsure and have uncertainty about my own abilities, but God-Confidence surely allows us to be fully certain. I mean, come on… He created the heavens and the earth, He is the Almighty, the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega and there is NOTHING impossible for Him.

Now this third definition gets me FIRED UP! Look at this, EXCESSIVELY BOLD, PRESUMPTUOUS This is telling me that we need a wake up call… God is looking for His children to start putting their confidence in Him, He is wanting us to be PRESUMPTUOUS about Him, and CERTAIN about what He is capable of.

WHOO HOO! My confidence doesn’t come from me, but I declare I will be EXCESSIVELY BOLD and a lot PRESUMPTOUS because my confidence comes from the Lord!

Does God really want us to walk around BOLD and confident, YOU BET HE DOES!!!

PSALM 71:5 – For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.

ISAIAH 32:17 – The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.

JEREMIAH 17:7 – But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:4 – Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God.

EPHESIANS 3:12 – In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

HEBREWS 4:16 – Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

HEBREWS 13:16 – So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

1 JOHN 5:14-15 – This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Are you ready to STAND and be CONFIDENT in God? You have every reason to, and nothing in your favor not to!
